Shoppers can now search by title and description and quickly see listings that match their keywords. When using the new 'Search title and description' feature the results now include a snippet of the description where the keyword is used the most (if included in the description). We are excited to announce the launch of our new category structure that can be tried out on OZtion Beta. The new category structure will allow sellers to select additional details when creating or editing a listing. For example, for an item of clothing, sellers may include particular details such as Type, Brand, Colour, Size, Material etc. Buyers will then be able to narrow their search results using these additional details and in turn view a more detailed item description. At present, the new category structure has only been introduced to the Baby Care > Clothing category via OZtion Beta. This is just for the interim so we may collect and assess your valuable feedback relating to the new category structure. The new structure will also be introduced to other categories on a regular basis. At this stage, sellers can only select additional details (Item Particulars) from the online listing page (just under the category), not through Express Lister. We recently announced that we made some changes to the forums including the introduction of Screen Names for privacy reasons. We also advised to please select your Screen Name carefully as it cannot be amended later, however allowed for a grace period whereby members could amend their Screen Name.
Please be advised, there will be a final 24 hour period whereby members can still change their Screen Name; this option will no longer be available once this 24 hour period has lapsed.
We reiterate, Screen Names will NO longer be able to be amended from 22nd December 11:00am AEDT with NO exceptions.

Please choose your Screen Name carefully as it cannot be amended later. You can choose a unique Screen Name or your own OZtion username. Note: An OZtion member cannot choose another OZtion member's username as their screen name.
Member feedback has indicated concern with privacy and possible negative consequences, due to posting in the community forums. An example of one of these negative consequences may include the unnecessary blocking of a member due to a forum post, which would be eliminated if that member was using a Screen Name.
This function simply allows those members that prefer to remain private exactly that, private. Those members that do not wish to remain private, can continue to use their existing OZtion username as their Screen Name.

During the lead up to Christmas we will be ramping up our marketing activities to attract new buyers to OZtion. First impressions are everything, so with this in mind our design and development team will be focusing on improving the OZtion experience for everyone. We are in the process of improving page layouts, streamlining current processes and launching new services. We will keep you posted on our marketing activities.

We are pleased to announce we will be introducing a new feature for sellers called "Auto-Relist Until Sold".
The new feature will enable you to have selected listings continually listed (until sold or cancelled) without the listing being moved into your 'Unsold List' after 60 days. No more having to manually relist items from your Unsold list.
What are the costs?
The cost is $0.06 per item every 60 days. The first 60 days are free.
How do I use it?
There are a number of different ways you can turn on 'List Until Sold or Cancelled'.

As we all know Sensis owns Trading Post so does this mean that they are worried about quicksales.com.au? We noticed that Trading Post changed their web site today, adding fine print behind their marketing claims. They should have done this prior to sending the letter. The following amendments have been introduced to further enhance the online listing and selling process.
When listing a new item online, Payment and Postage details will now automatically be filled with the previously set defaults entered by sellers through their Selling Preferences. Sellers are no longer required to click the button 'Load my default details' on the Sell page.
Sellers can conveniently update their default Payment and Postage details and apply any necessary amendments to their selling items, from the Selling Preferences page.
Note: Payment and Postage details can no longer be updated on sold items.

OZtion has achieved a 50% increase in sales for the month of May compared to the month of March. The significant increase in sales has occurred since eBay Australia announced in April that all items must be paid for using PayPal.

We've changed the way the Wanted forum works. The wanted forum was provided to assist OZtion members with finding an item or selling an item on OZtion.
Since its release many members have been referring people to places other than OZtion and many OZtion sellers have missed out on a sale as a result.
The new wanted forum format allows an OZtion member to post what they want, and for any member to reply with an OZtion item number; this will help ensure OZtion sellers benefit from "wanted" item sales.

We are pleased to announce that OZtion's new postage calculator and additional postage options are now available.
The postage calculator will assist sellers with displaying accurate Australia Post domestic postage costs in their listings, based on the buyer's location. Additional postage options are also now available.
What's new?
Sellers will still be able to select one or more 'Post to location' when listing an item.Note: Sellers that offer 'Worldwide' postage can provide details in the 'Postage instructions' field as normal. Listings with calculated postage will not show the calculated postage if the buyer is located outside of Australia, however, the buyer can click a link to enter their country and postcode to see what the Australia Post international postage cost would be.
Additional postage services and options including international functions will be available at a later date.
A new version of Express Lister with the new postage option changes will be available to download on the 15th of January.
We have recently added RSS support to selling items, allowing users to track OZtion items via their RSS reader. Sellers can also use it to display their live items on other sites. By subscribing to an RSS Feed on OZtion, you will receive new updates for the feed in real time.
What is RSS? - (RSS) or Really Simple Syndication provides a convenient way for you to receive regular content "feeds" from different sources.
To subscribe to an RSS Feed, you will need an RSS reader. Readers can be standalone applications that run on your desktop or Plug-in readers that work with programs such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.
RSS Feeds will be available in numerous areas of OZtion, currently anyone can subscribe to search results, and sellers can subscribe to their own selling items. Other areas will be available soon.
We have added the following Christmas categories.
Sellers can now list in these categories; however, they are not available to buyers yet. We will add a link to the Christmas categories on the home page and category lists shortly (after some items have been listed).
These will be available until the end of the festive season.
We are pleased to announce that sellers can now offer items to their underbidders (non-winning bidders).
What's changed?Previously an Underbidder Offer could only be sent to the underbidder if the winning bidder did not pay. The new changes will now allow the seller to send an offer to any or all underbidder(s) providing they have sufficient stock available. The offer will be for a BuyNow price equal to the underbidder's maximum bid amount.

As from the 15th November, items listed by sellers set to 'Away' will no longer show in category listings and search results. Sellers can still set their status to 'Away' and back again without having to remove or relist their items. This change is necessary to prevent items showing that cannot accept bids or be purchased and improve the user experience.

We are pleased to announce the introduction of classified ads on OZtion.
Classified ads provide a way for sellers to list items such as pets, vehicles or real estate for sale to multiple potential buyers. It's similar to advertising in your local paper, except you can reach more potential buyers. Buyers of items in these categories generally prefer to discuss the item in more detail and often will only purchase the item after inspection (transaction does not take place online).

We understand there have been some concerns raised by our valued sellers regarding the upcoming 'Spring Clean' recently announced, expected to be launched on the 1st September 2007. Please be aware, we are acknowledging your concerns, particularly due to the fact that Express Lister 2.0 has not yet been released. The exact release day is not known as it is still undergoing testing.
For your convenience we hereby advise that we will be postponing the 'Spring Clean' until one week after the launch of Express Lister 2.0. This allows members to be adequately prepared as well as being assured they will have access to the innovative new version.
As of the 27th August 2007 members located outside of Australia and New Zealand will no longer be able to create a seller's account.
Who does this change affect?This change will only affect members from the UK and USA who do not already have a seller's account.
What happens to the currently registered international sellers?International members that already have a seller's account will not be affected. Below is a list of changes regarding international sellers in the past so you can easily see which international sellers can sell on OZtion.
Before the 3rd September 2006 - No restrictions on international sellers.Between 4th September 2006 and 22nd October 2006 - Sellers from Australia and New Zealand only.Between 19th February 2007 and 26th August 2007 - Sellers from Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA only.After the 27th August 2007 - Only members from Australia and New Zealand can create a seller's account.
Why are we changing this again?After some careful analysis of data collected from transactions we have decided that a change is necessary to:1. improve the buying experience for the majority of buyers.2. to support and improve the sales rate for local sellers.
Dear valued membersDue to an influx of member emails received, we feel we must clarify any member confusion regarding the upcoming amendments to our current fee structure including the proposed 'Spring Clean' due on the 1st September 2007:Why have we introduced Relist fees?Since the launch of OZtion in January 2005, OZtion have not had a fee increase. We have healthily progressed to become the site we are today and it is now time to take that next step. Although listings are still FREE to list, costs must be recouped for those items which are clearly not selling (after 60 days) and are being relisted on a regular basis (every 60 days). Buyer feedback received has revealed they do not wish to see the same old listings within our search engines. These listings can prove to be quite costly to our site, not to mention adversely affect the buyer experience. We require our sellers to adequately assess this stock both to improve the quality of listings and also to possibly increase their sales. Also important, Relist fees will also increase OZtion revenue so as to allow us to concentrate on the further building of our site. The relist fee will only apply to those items that have been listed for 60 days or longer, for example, to relist 50 items that have been listed for 60 days or longer, a fee of $1.00 would apply. Why have we introduced the sale fee increase?Member feedback has revealed that OZtion must progress in terms of offering buyer safety and the development of innovative marketing strategies. Our fee structure requires revision in order to better facilitate our members and the natural progression of our site. Business expenses must be met and improvement programs implemented (such as a Buyer Protection Program) in order for us to remain competitive within the online auction market. What about all the low value item sellers, such as those selling Craft items, what can they do?We have noted that most sellers selling such items, often sell multiple items to the one buyer. Perhaps a revision of the item titles and descriptions may be in order. Example: Instead of listing single items, consider listing multiple items where the buyer may have a choice in selecting the specific items they wish to purchase; such as a choice of three or more different items rolled into the one listing (a list of the relative items available may be included within the description).Why has the 'Sell Similar' option been removed for items which have been listed for 60 days or longer?It is imperative that Sellers assess their items which have not sold within the 60 day or longer period. The removal of the 'Sell Similar' function (items listed for 60 days or longer) will encourage sellers to assess their items prior to automatically relisting them or using the 'Sell Similar' option. Many sellers are comfortable with this practise and are not making any necessary adjustments so as to assist the sale of that item. As mentioned, it will also improve the quality of our listings thus raising the level of the buyer experience altogether.What is the difference between the 60 day Auto-Relist and the upcoming Spring Clean?Auto-Relist is turned off after an item has been listed for 60 days however, sellers have been able to continue to list items using manual 'Relist' or 'Sell Similar'. Spring Clean moves items that have been listed for more than 90 days to your "Unsold" area regardless of manual or automatic relists.

We have listened to your feedback and have noted that many of you would prefer to see an increase in the quality and number of new listings. So as to improve the buying experience on OZtion we need to remove some items that have been listed for longer than 90 days without bids. It's a good time for sellers to refresh their stock (list new or different items). Items that have been listed for 90 days without bids will be moved to your Unsold area on the 1st of September 2007 (now postponed until one week after the launch of Express Lister 2). Some sellers will be affected by this change but we are confident that the decision will benefit both buyers and sellers. What's the difference between the Spring Clean and the current 60 day Auto-Relist?Auto-Relist is turned off after an item has been listed for 60 days however, items can still be relisted manually. Spring Clean moves items into your 'Unsold' list that have been listed for more than 90 days regardless of manual or automatic relists. Unsold Item changesItems that do not sell will show in the 'Unsold' list in 'My OZtion'. Currently these items can be relisted up to 90 days after the unsold date. As from the 1st of October 2007 items that have been listed for 60 days or more can only be relisted for a small fee. The item can then be listed with Auto-Relist again for another 60 days.Sell Similar changesThe Sell Similar feature is a great tool to quickly list similar items. Currently any item in the 'Selling', 'Sold' or 'Unsold' list can be selected as the template to list a similar item. As from the 16th August 2007, Sell Similar cannot be selected on items that have been listed for 60 days or more.

Spoof emails (sometimes called phishing) and web sites associated with them attempt to steal the identity of members of popular web sites such as OZtion. The email pretends to be from a well known company. People who send spoof emails ask recipients to reply or fill in details on a web site with personal information - such as your credit card number or a username and password - to commit identity theft.
We are doubling the referral cash rewards for new members you refer between the 19th of February and 19th March 2007.
You can earn up to $1.20 for each new member you refer. Your referral cash can be withdrawn or transferred to your prepaid OZtion account.

Sellers located in the USA and UK will be able to create a sellers account on OZtion as from the 19th of February 2007.
This move will encourage those buyers that buy local and international products to shop on OZtion.
Items listed from international sellers will show the Country as NZ, US or UK in the item lists and on the item page. The seller's profile page will also include which Country they are from. International sellers will need to be Credit Card and Address Verified and accept a safe payment method such as Credit Card, Paymate or PayPal.

We will be running a trial forum called "Open Social Discussion" later today. This forum will be a place for members to socialise and discuss any topics they wish.
The new forum will be listed under the Social section on the Community page.
Please note, the Open Social Discussion forum will be run strictly on a trial basis. In due course, we will make a decision as to whether or not we will keep it running once we have determined its success.
1. New option added when revising a 'Rating & Comment'.
Members now have the option to overwrite a previously left rating.
A 'Rating & Comment' you left to another member can be revised if you are upgrading the rating. For example, you may want to upgrade a 'Bad' rating you left someone to 'Excellent' or 'Average' to 'Excellent'. Revisions can only be made when upgrading the rating to Average or above. You will be given the option to show both the previous comment and new comment or overwrite the previous comment with the new comment.
This gives your seller or buyer a chance to correct a mistake they may have made.
2. Introduction of time limit to leave a rating.
Ratings & Comments will need to be left within 90 days of the Auction or BuyNow item ending.
The 'Ratings to Leave' reminder in 'My OZtion' has also been changed to only show ratings within 90 days.

We are constantly looking at innovative ways so as to improve our members' buying experience on OZtion and subsequently maximise profits for sellers. It's important therefore to support buyers and sellers by instilling a healthy balance between newly listed and unsold items which have been relisted many times.
It is for this reason we are now announcing that the Auto-Relist feature will be automatically turned off after an item has been listed for 60 days or more. This will take affect as from the 1st of February 2007.
What will happen to my items on Auto-Relist? An item which has been listed for more than 60 days as of the 1st of Feb 2007 will be subject to having the Auto-Relist turned off. The item will continue to be listed until the closing time. If however, it is not won prior to closing, it will be automatically moved to your 'Unsold' list in 'My OZtion'.
Can I relist items from my Unsold list? Yes, items in your Unsold list may be listed again, however the Auto-Relist feature can not be activated. We recommend that unsold items be edited prior to relisting. For example, you may want to amend the price, title or description so as to increase the chance of selling it.
We are constantly looking at new ways to improve the buying experience on OZtion and in turn maximise profits for sellers. It's important therefore to support buyers and sellers by maintaining an acceptable level of identical items listed.
Therefore, we would like to remind sellers that only 3 identical items can be listed.
Periodically the system will detect and remove identical items that have been listed more than 3 times by the same seller. The system only detects items that use the same title and are listed more than 3 times. Please use a meaningful title to describe your item and refrain from using the same title for different items. If your items have identical titles but have different pictures, you can simply edit the title so they are different.
If you have more than 3 of the same item, please list it with a multiple quantity (see below).
Quantity (when listing as a 'BuyNow Only') If a seller has more than one (1) of an identical item, they can enter the 'Quantity available'. Multiple purchases can be made from one or more members until the item listing ends. Quantity (when listing as an 'Auction') You can list multiple quantity Auction Style items and the winning bidder can buy the quantity desired.

vShops has been open to public beta testing since the 21st August, but hidden from public viewing whilst we collected feedback from testers. The vShop beta trial is expected to continue for another month whilst we add the vShop Hub, new features and fix any problems found.
vShop owners can now turn on their vShops and allow the public to view them. vShops can be accessed from the seller's profile page and item page. A directory of vShops will be shown in the vShop Hub next month. vShop items will appear in all search results and category listings.
We strongly recommend that you only turn your vShop on if you have finished setting it up. To turn you vShop on, go to the vShop Manager in 'My OZtion', click 'Edit vShop Details' and set the vShop Status. For information on setting you vShop up correctly please see the following resources.

How does this affect sellers? It will only affect sellers that have an item that has been listed (using Auto-Relist) for more than 90 days. The item will be moved into the sellers "Unsold" list.
Items listed after 1st September 2006 New items listed as from 1st September 2006 can continue to Auto-Relist for a maximum of 90 days. After 90 days the item will move to the sellers "Unsold" list.
Buyers OZtion is having a spring clean, items older than 90 days will be removed from the system on the 1st September 2006. If something caught your eye and you haven't bought it yet, grab it during August or it may be gone forever!

Congratulations to our 10,000th OZtion member from Robina, Queensland who joined us on 30th Oct 2005.
OZtion has achieved 400% growth in memberships and 233% growth in items listed for sale in the last 4 months! OZtion members have grown from 2,000 in June to over 10,000 in October and from an average of 9,000 listings in June to well over 30,000 now.
We expect to get a lot more buyers before Christmas due to advertising we will be running. Our target is to reach 15,000 members by the end of the year. Please help us to spread the word.

New User Verification Policies
We are always looking at new and improved ways to increase the security on OZtion, as a result we have just changed our 'User Verification' policies. Credit Card Verified User (CCVU) Members that have successfully made a credit card transaction with OZtion will get a 'CCVU' logo next to their 'User ID'.

Sellers can now list multiple quantity Auction Style items and the winning bidder can buy quantity desired. What does this mean? If a seller has more than one (1) of an identical item, they can list it as an Auction Style listing and enter the Quantity Available. The Auction listing will show the Quantity Available and before a bid is placed the following message is displayed. This is a multiple quantity auction item. Your bid amount is for ONE unit only. If you are the winning bidder, you can choose quantity desired at end of auction. Unit price for additional items is the winning bid amount. The winning bidder will have the option to buy the quantity they desire. For example:
